because we love...

So we've been doing a weekly Bible study at our place for a while now (God's doing not ours) and we are currently in The Purple Book:

This week's lesson is on Lordship and Relationships. I love the way this study works (no leader guide) just questions to get the wheels spinning and Scripture as answers and truth. Questions 1-5 made me a little uncomfortable pulling verses from I Corinthians 5 about avoiding anyone claiming to be a Christian, but still living in bondage to sin and putting people out of fellowship (at this point I was like, "Okay, Purple Book, making me a little uncomfortable here). However, the text soon became more upbeat. The big picture?
But like Jesus, God wants us to have a transforming influence on the world around us--not the other way around. -pg 26

The lesson concludes with encouraging readers to live as salt and light.
We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. -I John 3:14

Because we love...
we live outside a "Christian Bubble"
we are salt and light to the world
we choose not to participate in a lifestyle that does not glorify the Lord
we remain sanctified
Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth. -John 17:17

In order to be loving to unbelievers and remain sanctified, we must remain in the Word.
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. -Hebrews 4:12

Such empowerment to grasp that through His Word, we are capable of winning battles, that through the cross, we are capable of love.
